The Kicks of Life – By the Anderson’s

A little bit of info on the life on Fern.

Ultimate Update

Wow.

It’s been a long time. Well, I’ll skip the excuses and just get right to the goods! Sweet, that sounds like a great plan.

Well, I have a new job (this is about 2 months old news). I am the Creative Director for an Internet Marketing Firm and am loving it. Sadie is due in like 3 weeks… Whoa, that’s fast. We are super excited for that. We finished painting the house, it looks pretty sweet if I say so myself. Thank you to everyone who helped, you know who you are.

And lastly, we have been busy with design as usual! I am going to post a couple pics on this… But it’s just on going so you’ll have to stay tuned. Actually, we are going to have to just blog more, ey? Ha ha

Rock on, enjoy the pictures.

The Updated Stairs

Yes yes.. we know, more stairs and more house. But seriously, this is what has consumed our lives for the past, oh I don’t know… ever!? Nevertheless we are finished with the stairs. Now, we move on to the outside of this house. Holy cow we are seeing the light at the end. Well, I take that back. We still have to do a little caulking to the stairs but that’s just minor business.

So, this wonderful Memorial weekend was a blast. It was great to be with Sadie and accomplish a lot of the things we have been needing to get down. As well, we played a lot we our awesome friends the Teicherts and Furnesses. They rule. We love ya’ll.

As for the stairs. They are pretty now. Yes, you can call them the celestial stairs because they are as pure as snow right now! Check them out.

The New Stairs… Finally

If you know us… than you probably have been to our house. If you have been to our house… than you know about the “Passion Pit” and it’s infamous hole of death. Usually when you come over we only have one thing we ask of you. That is, simply to not die. We did not have any type of stair railing anywhere on anything. Yah, can you say “not up too code!”… ha ha, we can! Take a look, this is what it looked like:

This is the Giant Hole of Death

Again... Big Hole, No Rail

Again... Big Hole, No Rail

Now… this was a while ago. I know, it’s terrible that it took this long but I assure there were a lot of good reasons as to why it didn’t. I won’t bore you with any here though.. :)  After  slaving away with ideas, possiblities, and trips to the local Lowe’s store, we finally have a sweet stair rail. In fact, I have been asked to write a DIY post on a website about how I did it. Hmmm, that should be fun! So, check it out and let us know what you think. I am currently working on the stairs right now as we speak so there will be updates. However, in the meantime, enjoy these:

Whoops... Some More Even

We even got crazy and painted the wall… oh yah. It was totally on a whim (the color at least) and on a Saturday that me and Sade went to town on our home! Backyard? Check… Dirty porch? Check… Nasty drywall? Check… Lowe’s? Check, please.  No worries.  It was an awesome day and we felt very accomplished. However, there are still more to come!  Just hang tight! In the mean time you will be able to see the progress we are having. So, finished the railing.. (finally) and than painted the wall. Next, I wanted to cover up the ugly edges of the wood floor and subfloor. So, again… here goes my crazy little mind. I’ll just use these aluminum ”L” molds. So, I did. Even if they were 19 bucks a piece (little buggers). Than, I thought it would be great to have some hanging halogens. Whoa… much more complicated than I thought but once I started, yah, I couldn’t stop. So we have some awesome lights now hanging down and lighting up the stairway! Here are the rest:

All in all… it’s still going on. We are going to be painting the stairs and I have a few more molding pieces to attach. My arm is getting tired from the hack saw and I think my neighbors are getting pissed at me “hacking”-”sawing” around 12:00 at night. ha ha ha Whops. Sorry folks. A dude has to do what a dude has to do. At least I can hunt down all the spiders that come out around my home at night. I always win those wars.  Again, here is a more detailed image:

Hope you guys are rocking! Let us know what you think. Thanks for the love. I’m out!

Extremely Behind… But Still Rocking

No excuses… I have just been slacking! Between my wanting to spend time with my beautiful (and prego might I add) wife, I haven’t found much time to sit here and write up an update! So, ian doing it now. Here we go…

First, yes you did read right… My babe is prego!! Most ofyou proba my already know this but I am still going to make it known. So, there you have it.

Second, with out diving into too much detail on a public domain… Sadie’s work has taken some crazy turns of events! Let’s just say she is enjoying it 400x more than she was a when ago!! For those of you who talk to us.. You know what that means, if not, it means we need to talk a lot more so let’s get on it people!!

Third, we oficially have a stair rail in our house! Yes, it’s a bit late but it’s better than nothing. I think it looks pretty sweet if I do say so myself. I will try to post some photos on here when I can.

Additionally, we are going to be painting our home. So, if you are feeling like being a superstar, ring me up and I’ll let you know when we do it.

Other than that, there are tons of different things that are going on right now but it’s just a little too much to write right now on the phone. Hope you all are doing awesome and just remember… We think YOU are awesome!!!

Until later… Rock on.

The Lack of a Post

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit it. We have totally sucked at writing on this thing. However, I do think about it a lot.

Just in case you were wondering what we have been up to, we will tel youl… a lot! Sadie’s brother is getting married, Twilight came out on DVD, it’s been super nice weather so we are trying to get the yard all situated, and hanging out a lot! However, there are three very important items we must highlight:

1. I (mostly Sadie… But I helped) made BBQ chicken pizza from scratch. Oh yah, it was awesome! Thanks Jerrod and Kim for enjoying it with us.
2. Baby Avalon is finally here! In case you don’t know, she belongs to Jeremy & Ali Fenlon. She is a doll… And for sure will be a princess! If you get the chance, you have to check her out. The photo isn’t the best, but it works.
3. Finally, Mr. Claudio Ramires. Known as my Brazillian father… came up to Sat Lake this weekend! He won an International art award with the church. It was so awesome to see him and brought back a lot of great memories from the mission!

Yes, it’s not a very comprehensive list but it works “for the lack of a post”.

How are all you guys doing? We do our best to follow but we can’t blog stalk… That’s just weird. Let is know how you doing?

By the way… Life is great. Always remember that. :)

A Birthday from Thailand

February 22nd, man that’s a good day. For all of those who don’t know (shame on you) this is the wonderful birthday of my amazing wife.

Now, seriously… This gal gets the hook-up with Valentines day the week before her birthday, but it males it that much more fun for me. It is… the one time that I am allowed to try and whip something up in the kitchen that is deluctabe. However, for those of you who are thinking.. “Wow Matt, I didn’t know you cooked?”, no worries. I don’t cook. But I am pretty sure Sade gets a kick out of watching me try.

With that said, the moment she started describing to me dishes and food items for her birthday dinner, I knew this situation was going south fast. I couldn’t pronounce half the words, it involved a serious pow-wow with the forces (mom and sister), and I knew I was in dire need of reinforcements. So, Sadie pretty much did it all. I know, I am a loser. But atleast I know I have an amazing wife and that I should tap that resouce! Neverthless, our little Thai adventure turned out great. Happy Birthday Sade, you rock.

Here are a photo from the oriental extravaganza, have you heard of pinapple rice? It’s nuts! You cut the thing in two and cook rice inside the blasted pinapple… Way cool.

Here are the updated pictures:

So… it was awesome and very very good if you can’t tell by the empty pineapples. Hope you all will be able to eat some of this grub with us soon!

The Notice Before the Trip

So, how often do you get to leave one location that’s 40 degrees… and vacation to another spot in the state that should be 60 degrees, but is only 40 degrees? Any takers? Anyone? Yah, it sucks. However, that is the only we will report later on this downside to our trip this weekend. We are so excited that we don’t sleep, eat or drink anymore.

Yes, that was an exageration.

St. George has always been a fun place for us to visit. As well, now that Brent has pitched his tent down under… we have a very cgood reason to hit the red rocks. We decided to keep our 2 year tradition of the St. George parade of homes and make it a weekend. In other words, we are going down to realize just how small our house is.

Wish us luck, it is Friday the 13th and we are driving. Is that a bad idea? Hmm… don’t know, but let’s just hope we don’t get snowed in at Beaver.

This is a mask, a really scary one!

Best Wife Ever

Okay… listen to this. I am sitting at work today tugging along with who knows what when Haylee (front reception girl) comes walking back with this awesome little flower/plant contraption.

Haylee: Maaaatt… Looks like you have a girlfriend!
Matt: Huh?
Haylee: Yah… You got flowers! (She was handing them to me at this point).
Matt: Well, I sure hope I don’t have a girlfriend because I have a WIFE!
Haylee: Giggles…

I opened up the provided envelope and read the caption. It said: “Happy I love you day! Love Sadie”

Audience (They had all gathered in anticipation): Awwww!

Yah, it was freaking awesome! Ryan told me, “What a gal.. What a gal, you got a good one Matt.” Summer just giggled and held back tears… Literally. Haylee was still giggling and Justin was analyzing the new member of the Anderson Atrium! With that said, I couldn’t agree more… I have an amazing wife. And this is the forever kind.

So tonight we are celebrating “Happy I Love You Day” by going to PF Changs (Thanks Mel) and remembering how great our lives just are. Plus, the 40 min wait gave me a chance to let the world know that I have the best wife EVER!

Until later,
Matt

Spring Cleaning… Sort Of

So it’s a bit late… I’ll admit to that but since when haven’t I been a night owl? It’s bad, I know but I always think like this, it’s so hard to stop something once you start it. Such is the case tonight.

I’ve been trying to do my stupid taxes for the last week or so and the software we bought is… well, let’s just say it’s not “good” in the spirit of kindness. (it’s Taxcut) Anyway, every time I have tried to start a new return the blasted thing crashes on me! (Refer back to the Peru post to read about my waiting on the phone with the Taxcut people) after freaking way too many times, I decided it was time for a little cleaning… yes, I am talking about our Mac. So before you all start off into your rampage of how bad Macs are too because they have issues, let me just tell you it was running FINE! it was the Taxjunk that was having issues. Additionally, even the best ballarinas have to rest and rejuvinate. Well, it’s our computers turn. Fair and square.

It should be fun, but I will spare you all the coolness of Apples restore system because, well… I just don’t think you really care. Right? But, nevertheless… computer down and sleeping, and still blogging the trash. Man I love the iPhone.

Later all… Until the next one!

WordPress On The iPhone

So this is pretty cool. I am writing this on my iPhone right now laying in bed… Aww, this feels nice. I will have you all know that it is one of our (okay, mostly Sadie’s) goals for this year to be digitally existent. This isn’t a bad start. We moved blogs, we are posting mobile style… Man, whats next? Take your pick because I am sure we have plenty of options. Well, it’s late and I am tired so goodnight everyone.

Best,
Matt
